Ben's story- CHAPTER ONE
Ben- chapter 1
I threw off my covers and walked down the stairs. Nobody was home, great! I had the house all to myself. I crossed the living room and went straight to the Xbox. I opened the disk drive and popped in halo reach. The familiar ping of the loading screen soothed my frayed nerves. School was killing me. That was when things took a turn for the weird. An error message appeared on my Xbox. |cannot connect with Xbox live| flashed across my TV screen.
"Great" I mumbled to myself. "Guess I'll settle for Television" I continued. I flipped the signal from game mode to television and a breaking news screen filled my view. METEOR IMPACTS PREDICTED THROUGHOUT ENTIRE MIDWEST AND THE WORLD. HIDE IN ANY SORT OF SHELTER POSSIBLE it read. I rushed outside and looked at the sky. It was a shade of brilliant yellow orange and cast a bright light on everything. I rushed back inside. Was this the end? I thought. Was I going to die here? I rushed to the basement and hid underneath a table, not sure how that would protect me from a hurtling meteor. The last thing I remember before passing out was the crash of splintering wood, the intense heat and a terrible pain in my right arm as the meteor buried itself in my house.

I think it's genius! If the light off the meteors can change people, it makes me wonder what direct contact could do. I would add a little more detail though. It all moves along pretty quickly.
